Arguably the greatest duet and brother act in country history, Ira and Charlie Louvin made remarkably moving, simply performed songs about their faith and lives, with only guitar and mandolin backing, reflecting the values of country with more sincerity and genuine feeling than hundreds of elaborately produced and packaged albums have since. Rounder issued these numbers on album in the late '70s, and reissued them on CD in 1991. The digital backdrop doesn't drain the authority from their voices; instead, it simply reaffirms the glory and splendor of the Louvins on 15 short, but brilliant gospel numbers.
