It's Emily's is the sort of charmingly indie record that could only come from Sweden — Backfish's warm and fuzzy indierock could call up comparisons to Panic On-era Madder Rose, Bettie Serveert, Velocity Girl, or Versus, but the band's buzzy hooks and pop dedication falls pretty much in the center of everything that's good about all of these groups. More importantly, It's Emily's is a solid, consistent, and very well-constructed album — it's the sort of unassumingly satisfying record any indie fan could easily fall in love with.

Formed in 1993 under the name Backfish Blue, Kathrine Bergström (vocals, guitar), Anna Wallmark (bass), Nina Åkerlund (drums), and Linda Åkerlund (guitar and vocals) just wanted to write a catchy pop song here and there while killing some time in their native Sweden. But by 1994, after a demo release and short tour of their home country, a label bidding war took place resulting in A West Side Fabrication coming out as the winner.
