Album Review

Papagika, a recording star of the Greek-American community, sang a little of everything, in a style that (typically of emigrant music) was old-fashioned by the 1920s — or alternatively, very true to her roots on the island of Kos. She was not equally adept in every style she tackled, but at her best (as in track two's smyrneikos balos) she was wonderful.
