This British band was formed in 1982 by ex-Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di’Anno (b. Paul Andrews, 17 May 1958, Chingford, London, England; vocals), John Wiggins (guitar), Peter J. Ward (guitar, vocals), Mark Venables (keyboards, vocals), Kevin Browne (bass, vocals) and Mark Stuart (drums). Originally known as Lonewolf, they spent their first year touring Europe playing American-style melodic AOR rock. In 1983 John Wiggins was replaced on guitar by Lee Slater and Lonewolf signed to FM Revolver. Soon after the contract was in place, Lonewolf were forced to change their name following complaints from a group of the same title. On their debut album Dianno, they came across as an English band trying to sound American, although their version of Cliff Richard’s ‘Heart User’ was a surprise inclusion. The album did not sell well and at the end of the year, Dianno fell apart, with Paul Di’Anno going on to form Paul Di’Anno’s Battlezone, then Killers.
