About The Delgados
Although never quite the shining stars of the mid-1990s Glaswegian indie-pop scene, at least as far as U.S. audiences were concerned, the Delgados were not only master melodicists but tastemakers, too, running the Chemikal Underground label and introducing the world to their scene-mates Arab Strap, Bis, Mogwai, and others. Their sound sprung forth from a pure well of hooks and harmonies, tempered by lo-fi self-effacement and undeniable punk spirit. Along their 10-year trajectory, the band caught the ear of legendary DJ John Peel, which helped improve their critical standing, and they put in a good solid decade of touring and recording for a small but loyal fan base before calling it quits in 2005.
