The Memphis Horns

About The Memphis Horns

Trumpeter Wayne Jackson and sax man Andrew Love were the heart of the legendary soul horn section known as the Memphis Horns. Originally a six-man section, they provided the punchy horn parts on countless classic Stax recordings by the likes of Sam & Dave, Otis Redding, and other soul giants. Over time, the Memphis Horns boiled down to just Love and Jackson, but even after Stax's salad days, they continued to record with high-profile artists, from U2 to Robert Cray.
