About Trackmasters
Jean Claude ‘Poke’ Olivier (b. New York, USA) and Samuel ‘Tone’ Barnes (b. New York, USA) established themselves as one of the leading US production duos of the 90s owing to a string of hit collaborations with urban, rock and pop artists. Their name came about after they submitted their instrumental tapes to the manager of a group who, loving their work, referred to Olivier and Barnes as ‘my track masters’. The Trackmasters run of hits during the 90s include Heavy D’s ‘Nuttin’ But Love’, Nas’ ‘If I Ruled The World’, Will Smith’s ‘Men In Black’, LL Cool J’s ‘Loungin’’ and Soul IV Real’s ‘Every Little Thing I Do’. They have also written or produced for artists such as Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Foxy Brown, Total, Faith Evans and the Notorious B.I.G. . In partnership with Steve Stoute they also inaugurated a label contract with Sony Music for Track Masters Entertainment.
