Wayne Raney

About Wayne Raney

Singer, songwriter, harmonica wizard Wayne Raney earned a brief, but intense flash of stardom in the 1940s with his earnest, bluegrass-inspired sound. Interested in music from an early age, owing to the fact that a crippled foot prevented him from playing sports, Raney learned to play the harmonica, influenced heavily by master, and, from 1938 on, partner, Lonnie Glosson. The pair remained together for over a decade. In the latter half of the '40s, he became friendly with the Delmore Brothers, recording numerous sessions with them. He became a frequent visitor to the country charts around the same time with hits like "Lost John Boogie," "Jack And Jill Boogie," and "Why Don’t You Haul Off And Love Me."
