Founded in 2004 in Vienna, Austria, German-language pop/rock trio Zweitfrau feature Diana Lueger (vocals), Martin Pauser (guitar), and Lex Machat (bass); Markus Gradlschnig (drums) and Piotr Szwarczewski (keyboards) augment the trio in live performance. Zweitfrau made their recording debut in 2005 with the EP Erstkontakt, and re-emerged in 2007 with their major-label debut, Alles Dreht Sich, a maxi-single released by Warner Music Group. Released in February 2007, "Alles Dreht Sich" was a Top 30 hit, and Zweitfrau issued their next single, "Intensiv," in October of that year. "Intensiv" proved even more popular than "Alles Dreht Sich," breaking into the Top 20. Rückendeckung, the band's debut full-length album, was released on Strange Cat Records in 2008 and peaked at number 32 on the Austrian albums chart. ~ Jason Birchmeier
