Album Review

Canyon is psychedelic alt-country, mysterious and haunting. Disparate, three-part vocals and a distant, disembodied harmonica complete the dream-like nature of these compositions. Understated and sublime, this self-titled debut is a sad summoning of Gram Parsons, a melancholy meditation on a long, empty Western road. This is an evocative conjuring in the spirit of the Volebeats, the Scud Mountain Boys, and Friends of Dean Martinez.

Evoking the ghosts of Neil Young, Pink Floyd, and Nebraska-era Bruce Springsteen, the five members of Canyon are individuals who have made their own reinvention into an art form.
