While R. Kelly showed some serious guts by calling himself The King of R&B, Chocolate Factory proved that he had earned the crown. Equal parts carnal and sentimental, romantic and quirky, the album is packed with throwback funk jams (“You Knock Me Out”), banging R&B club tracks (“Snake”) and dramatic soul ballads (“I’ll Never Leave”). It also has its fair share of irresistible hits: the sly, hip-hop-style bounce of “Ignition (Remix)”, the slow-dance glide of “Step in the Name of Love (Remix)”. From start to finish, Chocolate Factory is a stunner.
