The very best of the unoriginal

If Chelsea Grin had tried to be original and revolutionary with this album, they would've failed miserably.
The album sounds similar to any death-core album released in the last five years and is practically bordering on copyright.

However, in an interview Chelsea Grin stated themselves that they're not trying to be original at all, but as brutal as possible and in this case, they obviously took the word "brutal" to to their black, unforgiving musical hearts.
I can say with absolute sincerity, that after hearing this album, similar death-core bands bore me. It feels like Chelsea Grin took all of the great elements out of death-core , and overused them so grossly, that it's actually one of the best death-core albums i have ever heard.
Think of Chelsea Grin as Las Vegas. Las Vegas is so sleazy and practically shameless, that it puts other similar cities to shame.
Hopefully i'm making sense with that example.

Their previous release, a self-titled EP, only got 4/5 stars from me due to mediocre sound quality and inhaled lows. (I really hate inhaled vocals) However Chelsea Grin fixed those two problems and have a 5/5 star rating from me because of it (i'm sure they're skipping with joy).
Buy this album, it really is a stellar purchase. Death-core bands are mostly underground and therefore don't earn that much money, so you'd really be helping them out this way.

Starting as a five-piece, the Salt Lake City, Utah band, consisting of singer Alex Koehler, guitarists Michael Stafford and Chris Kilbourn, bassist Austin Marticorena, and drummer Andrew Carlston, wasted no time putting themselves out there, releasing a self-titled EP on Statik Factory in 2008 and hitting the road. The band dealt with some lineup changes the following year,...
