The six-minute “Hardly Getting Over It” wouldn’t be out of place at a house party today; the soaring chorus on “Sorry Somehow” shows early shades of what would become pop-punk. To complete the band’s growth on Candy Apple Grey, “Too Far Down” is a sombre and mature ode to living with depression.
