Album Review

After German schlager veterans Die Flippers disbanded in early 2011, one of their members, Olaf Malolepski (recording simply as Olaf), returned with a solo album half a year later. Produced by Joschi Dinier, who also worked on five of the album's tracks as a composer and/or lyricist, Tausend Rote Rosen isn't too far removed from the sound of Olaf's former band, offering simple schlager melodies and lyrics about love and wanderlust.

German singer Olaf Malolepski rose to fame as a member of legendary schlager group Die Flippers. Formed in the late '60s, Die Flippers became one of the most successful schlager acts of all time, selling over 40 million records in their storied, decades-spanning career. When the band finally retired in April 2011, Malolepski wasted no time launching a successful solo career, delivering his debut, Tausend Rote Rosen, in October of that year.
