Beny More, one of the very greatest improvisers of Cuban singing, remains a demi-god to all Latino Cuban-music buffs; it is baffling that so few Anglo aficionados have picked up on him. This '50s set, dedicated to the composer of the international hit "Guajira Guantanamera" (no, not Pete Seeger), is mostly sones and totally superb (in every respect except recording quality, which is ho-hum-minus). It even has a couple of superb charanga cuts — rare as hen's teeth.
