Album Review

Although it still falls prey to some tired gangsterisms, Gangsta Blac's second album, I Am da Gangsta, is a marked improvement from his debut, in particular with his rapping — both his style and his lyrics are more forceful and incisive. Similarly, the music itself is more authoritative, even if it is at times a tad staid and predictable. What counts is that Gangsta Blac frequently fulfills the potential he illustrated on Can It Be with I Am da Gangsta. He might not be the definitive gangsta, but he is on his way to being worthy of the title.
