The Best of Norma Jean consists of Norma Jean's 21 Top 100 country hits in chronological order, including her biggest hit, "The Game of Triangles," on which she is joined by Bobby Bare and Liz Anderson. "Go Cat Go" and "I Wouldn't Buy a Used Car From Him" were Norma Jean's only other Top Ten entries, and are among the best cuts on this anthology. Despite her association with Porter Wagoner, he doesn't appear anywhere on these recordings, which span the years 1964-71. With a new breed of female country singers on the rise — ones who looked like models and sang with hardly a trace of rurality in their voices — the days were numbered for the hard(er) country sound of Norma Jean.
