Here Sweden's brooding Vikings deliver their signature epic battle sound with the heaviest fervor. Already a decade into their formidable but deceptively tuneful thirst for blood, the band expertly hones the art of sawing guitars and galloping drums in the name of Odin. But The Crusher also expands into other dynamics, dabbling in sensitive musical composition with the slow-burning "As The Raven Flies" and unnervingly tense "Annihilation of Hammerfest," then reaching thrash speeds on the crushing (pun intended) "Masters of War."

Swedish death metal band Amon Amarth originally formed in 1988 under the name Scum; by the time the new moniker was adopted four years later, the lineup consisted of vocalist Johan Hegg, guitarists Olavi Mikkonen and Anders Hansson, bassist Ted Lundstrom, and drummer Niko Kaukinen.
