Loretta Lynn actually lived the country music myth, rising out of Appalachian poverty to score 16 number one hits on the country charts, but she was no big-haired, groomed puppet, and wrote increasingly personal songs that also meant she’s had more songs banned on country radio than any other artist in the history of the genre. This brief ten-song set only sketches in the barest outlines of Lynn's career. One of her most famous hits, 1970’s autobiographical “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” is here, but there’s really so much more to the story. This will get you started, though.
