Album Review

This Belgium import lost its luster when Motown released The Very Best of the Velvelettes in 1999. Before that, this was the only collection by the Velvelettes, who scored with "Needle in a Haystack" and "He Was Really Saying Something." The inclusion of the Royalettes' sides doesn't help this CD's viability; you could always find their tracks on various albums and compact discs. They scored with "It's Gonna Take a Miracle," but never had a run of hits despite recording goodies like "He Is My Man," "Lonely Girl," and "It's a Big Mistake," all included here.
