Album Review

The CDs of the Millennium series are usually solid, price-worthy compilations of the various artists' work. This is also the case with this 20-track collection, which focuses primarily on music composed by Toquinho without his famous artistic partner, Vinicius de Moraes. Practically all the tracks are either lively bossa novas or smooth sambas, reflecting the typical sound of Toquinho's compositions. If there is something that could put some listeners (even some of Toquinho's fans) off with this album, it is the fact that many tracks here are very '80s sounding, in terms of production. If that doesn't bother you though, there are plenty of beautiful songs here, such as "Aquarela," "Que Maravilha," and "O Caderno." ~ Philip Jandovský, Rovi
