After a decade of silence, Dinosaur Jr. made a triumphant return with 2007’s Beyond, their first original lineup album since 1988. It wastes no time breaking things wide open with their signature crash of fuzzed-out guitar, as J Mascis mixes pop melodies, breakneck solos and raging overdrive on “Almost Ready”. “Been There All the Time” jams out one of the band’s catchiest riffs with drummer Murph’s pounding and rolling fills, and “What If I Knew” ends things in dark, Crazy Horse-inspired fashion.
