About Drivin N Cryin

Characterized by a tough, Southern rock-influenced sound, Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ began touring and recording tirelessly in 1986. Hailing from Atlanta, the band premiered their energetic mix of roots rock, country, jangle pop, and hard rock on their 1986 debut SCARRED BUT SMARTER, followed by a move to Island Records and WHISPER TAMES THE LION in 1988. On the merit of their legendary live shows, Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ remained popular in the South, but subsequent albums failed to bring them national recognition, even when their sound took a turn toward heavy rock on discs like SMOKE. The band released two more studio albums in ’95 and ’97, and though they haven’t recorded new material in the 2000s, they continue to tour and perform.
