Frank Diez

About Frank Diez

Nearly three decades after he awed fans of progressive jazz-fusion band Emergency with his Jimi Hendrix-influenced guitar playing, Frank Diez remains one of Germany's top instrumentalists. Performing with German guitarist Peter Maffay's band Atlantis since 1974, Diez has continued to collaborate with ex-Alexis Korner bassist Colin Hodgkinson, with whom he has performed more than one thousand shows and recorded four CDs as the Electric Blues Duo. Releasing a solo album, Stranded on Fantasy Island, with help from Hodgkinson and pianist/keyboardist and drummer Wolfgang Dalheimer; in 2001 he toured with guitarist Alex Conti. Diez has been involved with many other projects as well. He recorded an album, Daybreak, with ex-Emergency vocalist Peter Bischof in 1975, and formed a band, Ihre Kinder "Your Children" with influential violinist Klaus Kinski (1926-1991). In the late '70s, he worked with Eric Burdon as producer and instrumentalist. ~ Craig Harris
