About Ian Broudie

Ian Broudie’s delicate, lilting, deceptively powerful voice, is most recognizable from his stint as lead singer of the Liverpool indie pop band who scored gigantic hits in the early-1990s with “Pure” and “Life of Riley.” However, it was first given flight in much different surroundings, as part of the primal punk band Big in Japan, which also launched KLF's Bill Drummond and Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Holly Johnson. Around the same time, Broudie began a career as a successful producer, at the boards for Echo & the Bunnymen's first U.K. top 20 hit, "Rescue," and would in later years set the tone for indie bands from the Coral to the Zutons. His solo debut came with the low-key acoustic collection TALES TOLD in 2004.
