About Macromantics

b. Romy Hoffman, Australia. Melbourne-based rapper Hoffman began recording under the Macromantics moniker in 2004. Previously, she had played bass with the Ben Lee -fronted guitar rockers Noise Addict, first appearing with the band in the mid-90s at the age of 15. She had first discovered rap on tours of America with Noise Addict, and began experimenting behind the microphone during her down time from the band. By the start of the new millennium, Lee had disbanded Noise Addict to record solo albums and Hoffman was left with time on her hands to develop her rapping career. A self-released debut EP, Hyperbolic Logic, brought her to wider attention within the traditionally male dominated rap world. A contract with the US independent label Kill Rock Stars followed, with Hoffman’s debut album released at the end of 2006. Moments In Movement was an impressive if sometimes breathless showcase for her staccato rapping style.
