Inspired by '80s U.K. acts like New Order and Pet Shop Boys, Ming & Ping, the creation of California musician, artist, producer, and brand designer Bao Vo, offers bright, melodic alternative dance music that encompasses both tinnier, chiptune-like timbres and darker post-punk sounds. After emerging in the early 2000s behind the façade of fictional identical twin brothers, Ming & Ping built a following as the twins' songs and instrumentals were increasingly licensed for use in ads and in sports films, particularly surrounding the sport of snowboarding. In the decade to follow, Ming & Ping released the double-EP The Light of Day/The Darkness of Night in 2014, tracks including a remix of "Heavensent" by another Vo project, BAO, and the EP Los Angeles November 2019, which was inspired by Ridley Scott's classic film Blade Runner. 2022 saw the release of the innerspace EP.
