About New Waver

Melbourne media terrorists New Waver emerged from a mysterious underground collective notorious for satirical projects including Loser magazine, the mock political action group Campaign Against Uninteresting Shops in Brunswick Street, and even a fictitious Birthday Party tribute band dubbed the Christmas Party. With the release of their 1990 debut cassette Middle Class Man, the three anonymous members of New Waver moved into sound collage, mixing spoken-word samples with electronic melodies in the stated aim of creating music by, for and about life's losers; a series of cassettes including 1991's Perverted by Wheat, 1994's Aspects of Loserdom and 1998's Bohemian Suburb Rhapsody followed prior to the 1999 release of their first widely-available work, The Defeated. ~ Jason Ankeny
