A solid collection of Celia Cruz' '90s recordings for RMM, Carnaval de Exitos grabs several tracks from her best albums for the label, including the previous year's live record A Night of Salsa ("Cucala," "Celia y Tito"), 1998's Mi Vida Es Cantar ("La Vida Es un Carnaval," the title track), and 1997's Duets album (her feature with salsa inheritor India on "La Voz de Experiencia"). Interested parties looking for a compilation of Cruz' later recordings will find plenty of exuberant music inside.

Celia Cruz was one of Latin music's most respected vocalists. A ten-time Grammy nominee, Cruz, who sang only in her native Spanish language, received a Smithsonian Lifetime Achievement award, a National Medal of the Arts, and honorary doctorates from Yale University and the University of Miami. A street in Miami was even renamed in her honor, and Cruz's trademark orange, red, and white polka dot dress and shoes have been placed in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institute of Technology....
