Album Review

Barrelhouse Blues and Boogie Woogie, Vol. 5 features pianist Champion Jack Dupree recorded in Denmark and Switzerland. Among the highlights are the Dupree-penned tracks "I Want to Settle Down," "When I'm Drinking," "Please, Don't Dog Your Woman," "I'm a Gamblin' Man," and "People Talk." The pianist also tackles tunes by Fats Waller, Memphis Slim, Eddie Boyd, Speckled Red and Sunnyland Slim. Storyville has released several other volumes in the Barrelhouse Blues and Boogie Woogie series that are of equally high quality.
