Album Review

Donna the Buffalo's third, self-titled album was also their first available on CD. Donna the Buffalo contains many of the group's live favorites, including "River of Gold," "Mystic Water," and "Blue Shadows," all of which feature the band's diverse blend of folk, cajun, zydeco, and rock. The winning combination of fiddle, accordion, organ, guitar, bass, and drums, along with the Buffalo's distinctive voices, makes Donna the Buffalo almost as fun as seeing one of their many live shows.

Rootsy folk-rock sextet Donna the Buffalo formed in 1987 in Ithaca, NY. The group's three vocalists — Tara Nevins, who also plays fiddle, guitar, and accordion; guitarist Jeb Puryear; and keyboardist Joe Thrift — add another layer of diversity to the group's eclectic and often socially conscious sound.
