About Brookes Brothers

Hailing from London, U.K., brothers Dan and Phil Brookes set about producing their first tracks together after their love of raving and dance music in general piqued their interest in music production. With demos recorded, the duo sent a few tracks to the AIM address of drum'n'bass label Breakbeat Kaos -- owned by Adam F and Fresh -- and after receiving praise for the tracks, the duo ended up signing their first release, Someone, to Viper Recordings. With good connections built with Fresh, the brothers quickly signed material to Breakbeat Kaos and in 2006 released the 12" "Hard Knocks" on the label. Splitting their output between the two labels, the duo went on to release a slew of 12"s and in 2008, the single "Tear You Down" helped push the duo's name to a wider audience. Continuing with their own brand of anthemic and soulful drum'n'bass, the brothers set about work on their debut album, and in 2011, released the full-length Brookes Brothers LP. With support from major radio DJs including Pete Tong and Zane Lowe, the album attracted an ever-expanding audience. Continuing their relationship with Viper and Breakbeat Kaos, the brothers continued to release 12" singles in between their DJ sets, which included a residency at London's Fabric night club. In 2013, the duo signed an exclusive contract with Viper and began work on their sophomore album. Released in 2017, Orange Lane included the single "Carry Me On" and featured guest spots from ShezArs, Charlotte Haining, Pierre Da Silva, and others. ~ Rich Wilson
