About Joanne Polk

Pianist Joanne Polk has been noted for her performances and recordings of music by female composers. Polk's debut recording came as accompanist to soprano Korliss Uecker on the 1992 album Completely Clara, devoted to music by Clara Schumann. In the '90s and 2000s decades, she devoted several recordings to composers Judith Lang Zaimont, Amy Beach, Cécile Chaminade, and Fanny Mendelssohn. Polk is a member of the faculty at the Manhattan School of Music, and she co-founded Manhattan in the Mountains, a three-week summer music festival in the Catskill Mountains. In 2020, she issued the album Louise Farrenc: Etudes & Variations for solo piano, and the following year, she released Social Flutterby: Piano Music of David Shenton.
