Combining the bizarre, funk-influenced sensibilities of bassist Michael Manring, guitarist Scott McGill, and drummer Vic Stevens, this trio offers a clever mix of rock, jazz, and lounge to produce a psychedelic wonderland of strange music. The group first came together when they found themselves working on many of the same festivals and recording sessions, and eventually found working with one another quite enjoyable. Their debut record, Addition by Subtraction, introduced their unique blend to jazz audiences. Almost coming across like a rock record, that wouldn't even prepare listeners for Controlled by Radar, their extremely bizarre follow-up. Less structured and much more based in psychedelic meandering, the album was a very challenging listen and was met with a warm reception from the jazz world. ~ Bradley Torreano
