David Pajo first came to indie prominence in the early 1990s with preeminent post-rock outfit Slint. As that decade progressed, he played with everyone from Royal Trux to Palace Brothers, and found a home as a permanent member of Tortoise, until exiting to focus on solo endeavors. Most of his independent work, as both Aerial M and Papa M, was lo-fi, instrumental, and subtly pastoral. For PAPA M SINGS and WHATEVER, MORTAL, Pajo shifted to acoustic poetry, maintaining a straight-to-tape production grit. Between 2002 and 2004, the multi-talented musician performed with Billy Corgan’s Zwan while recording one HOLE OF BURNING ARMS, his last LP as Papa M. In the years since, he has recorded as simply Pajo.
