About Silvestre Dangond

Silvestre Dangond is a Colombian vallenato singer, who began his career with a series of traditional folk-based collaborative LPs before becoming a solo Latin pop star. ∙ His debut release, 2002’s Tanto Para Tí, was a collaborative LP with accordionist Roman Lopez that generated the regional hits “Quién Me Mandó” and “Nada Te Conmueve.” ∙ Between 2003 and 2011, Dangond released seven albums with Colombian folk instrumentalist Juancho de la Espriella, including 2011’s Diamond-certified LP No Me Compares Con Nadie. ∙ He was nominated for seven 2014 Premios Nuestra Tierra honors, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (La 9a Batalla), and Best Mainstream Artist. ∙ Dangond’s first solo LP, 2014’s Sigo Invicto, was a Top 10 hit in the US, peaking at No. 9 on Billboard’s Tropical Albums chart. ∙ In 2018, Esto Es Vida earned Dangond his first Latin Grammy Award, when he won for Best Cumbia/Vallenato Album. ∙ He scored back-to-back No. 1 hits in 2018 with collaborative pop singles: “Cásate Conmigo” (with Latin trap star Nicky Jam) and “Justicia” (with reggaetón singer Natti Natasha).
