Smart Texas Basketball 2016

Welcome to the inaugural edition of Smart Texas Basketball. We have written this book as a guide for the burgeoning Texas Longhorns basketball fan base. With the transition from the old Rick Barnes regime to the new Shaka Smart squadron now largely complete, many Texas faithful have questions about the new style and approach brought forth by Shaka Smart’s staff that need answering.


We are happy to oblige. Within this book, we have covered Shaka Smart’s program in depth; from the strengths and weaknesses of the individual players to the tactics of the team on the offensive and defensive ends of the court, from the earliest non-conference games to the grind of the Big 12 conference gauntlet. We look at the roster turnover, examine the coaching changes, and dig into the team’s recruiting needs. If it pertains to Texas basketball, it’s in here.


We hope this book will give you the tools necessary to understand what the Texas basketball program is attempting to achieve and will enhance your appreciation of the games.
