A short contemporary, sensual romance novel. Sometimes it is good to make promises you can't keep!
Kia Giavonni worked at the local hat factory in Relief, Texas. Joseph Cunningham III was the owner, and Kia's boss. Every day they went nose to nose about working conditions and over time. Kia wanted better working conditions at the factory, like updated equipment, restrooms marked "female", and more sanitary conditions. Joe wanted to save the factory from Mr. Walsh who wanted to turn the factory into a huge parking lot, without his grandfather's trust money, he couldn’t even make improvements. Joe has to marry to get his grandfather's trust money and save the factory, and he's already picked the most unlikely person to marry, Kia. At least she wanted improvements, so did Joe. Besides, they would never fall in love. Best laid plans go awry. Joe marries Kia with the understanding they'll divorce after a year, but even those plans are upset, when they decide to have sex. Is it sex or something more? Kia is pregnant. The strictly business deal fell through. Breaking their deal, Kia realizes she'll have to get the divorce and take the baby with her. Joe might get his factory but he'll lose the most important thing, Kia. Kia made judgements about Joe long ago, and she finds it hard to trust him. Joe had been thinking only of himself when he married Kia, and saving his factory. They simply never expected to fall in love. But sometimes the best laid plans go awry, and surrendering can be well worth it.
