The 2016 University of Tennessee field day kicks off September 8th in new location, Nashville, TN. We caught up with Dr. Jim Brosnan, Associate Professor Turf and Ornamental Weed Science at University of Tennessee as their annual field day kicks off in 10 days. UT Field Day is on a short list of one of the most attended field days put on by Universities.

Jim talks about the move from Knoxville to Nashville this year giving the opportunity for even more turf managers to attend given it's more central location in Tennessee. Two locations this year will also give attendees to see more real world application of research and trials. Sports turf attendees will be treated to guest speaker Luke Yoder, former grounds keeper of both Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres.

We sat down with Clay Breazeale at this year's PLAYERS Championship to talk course conditions for this year's event and construction on the Stadium Course. Four days after the final putt is sunk, construction will begin. Clay discusses some details of the construction including the greens rebuild and other infrastructure updates.

For a few years members of the golf turf community have joined together on an early morning of the Golf Industry Show for a group run. Looking to build camaraderie, talk shop and enjoy the host city for a bit is the goal. We caught up with Jim Nagle of Forse Design as one of the founding members of the GIS run to get details on this year's run.

The 2016 Great Lakes School of Turfgrass Science Online is designed to help meet the continuing education needs of any individual or organization. This 12- week program will have training sessions accessible live online on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8pm (Central Standard Time) or the option to view the recorded sessions. This 12-week certificate program aims to provide participants with thorough and practical continuing education in turfgrass management. The course is directed by educators from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cites and the University of Wisconsin- Madison, with 12 turfgrass scientists and educators from seven Land-Grant Universities.
