About the Movie

Tae-suk drifts around on his motorcycle looking for empty houses to stay in until the vacationing owners return. He never steals or ruins anything, in fact spends his time fixing broken items as a form of rent. One day, Tae-suk meets his destiny; a married woman named Sun-hwa. When Tae-suk breaks in, Sun-hwa hides in the dark and silently watches him. When she sees him fixing a broken scale, she realizes he is not a thief and continues to observe him from the shadows. When Sun-hwa's husband comes home and abuses her, Tae-suk grabs a 3-iron and swings it at golf balls, which strike her husband. Tae-suk and Sun-hwa run away and live in empty homes together until one day when they find a dead body!

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: A lyrical, sporadically violent tale of love on the run that gradually turns into something spooky, poetic and disarmingly gentle. – Michael Wilmington, Chicago Tribune, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: For all its pretense, 3-Iron is never pretentious and is so beautiful to look at. – Ruthe Stein, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: An uncanny spiritual exploration of the unlikeliest of great loves. – Andrew Sarris, New York Observer, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: It's actually quite satisfying, in a weird, magical-realism sort of way that manages to disturb and confound as much as it appeases the romantic. – Michael O'Sullivan, Washington Post, Jul 16, 2008

Unique and quiet perfection

This is one of my all time favorite movies. I could watch it 1000 times and get something new out of it each time. I do not understand Korean culture too well but this movie and story need no translation. very romantic, very unique.

Must See Film

This is a must see film, especially anyone who is a fan of Korean movies. This is a powerful story without words being spoken. Most of the movie is without any dialogue but it says so much without speaking. It is a unique film about love overcoming all. It brings to light the silence that surrounds domestic abuse, It shows the strength of one to find strength, healing, and love beyond it.
This movie says so much by saying so little. You must see it. It is a classic that shows why Korean films are so noteworthy films.
