About the Movie

Pop sensations Alvin, Simon and Theodore end up in the care of Dave Seville's twenty-something nephew Toby (Zachary Levi). The boys must put aside music superstardom to return to school, and are tasked with saving the school's music program by winning the $25,000 prize in a battle of the bands. But the Chipmunks unexpectedly meet their match in three singing chipmunks known as The Chipettes -– Brittany, Eleanor and Jeanette. Romantic and musical sparks are ignited when the Chipmunks and Chipettes square off.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The earlier Alvin movie made more than $217 million just in the United States. It's hard to imagine this somewhat confused sequel doing as well. – Neil Genzlinger, New York Times, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Will kids eat up this cutely fractious claptrap? Of course they will. They'll eat up whatever you put in front of them. But that doesn't make The Squeakquel good for them. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: It's not entirely Thomas's fault: What are you going to do with those fat-cheeked, helium-voiced singing critters but slap together enough "awwww" moments to make the toddlers happy and enough knowing winks to keep parental bums in the seats? – Ella Taylor, Village Voice, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Despite its success as a babysitter for preschoolers, it's a not a very good film. – Peter Hartlaub, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 24, 2010

you can call me *miss alvin seville*

this is by far one of the best movies ever made about singing chipmunks. and one of my all time favorite movies. i went and saw this three times within the first two weeks it was in theaters. i am so thrilled it will be available on itunes as well. i thought the first movie was completely fantastic, but this one is like twice as terrifical. this movie was so adorable, hillarious and also had a great message. i bought the soundtrack for myself and several other people for christmas and fell completely in love with it. the chipettes were pretty cute too. (i am just really mad about the whole brittany character-she is supposed to be alvin's so-called girlfriend) the music in this movie is completely fantastic and everyone should buy the soundtrack too. every time i hear the chipmunk's voice i can't help but smile or at least let out a small giggle. you would have to be completely (in)SANE to think the chipmunks don't have the cutest voices ever. i hope they make a third movie or at least another soundtrack.
thanx chipmunx!!!! i am your biggest fan for life!
me and alvin would totally already be married if he were a real person. i guess the fact that he is a singing chipmunk makes him that much cuter. he is by far the hottest chipmunk i have ever laid eyes on.
(does anyone have his number?---if so i would love it)
as for the brittany character--- well i would have already killed her by now if she were for real (as a person).
simon and theodore---i love you too, but when i compare you to alvin, there is no comparison.

This movie, FOR SURE beats all 09's movies by 100,000% even Alvin & The Chipmunks 1, you have to admit. It's worth the wait =)

Totally funny

I would give these guys 50 stars if I could! Go chipmunks! :)
