About the Movie

Oscar® winners Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth are joined by Patrick Dempsey for the next chapter of the world's favorite singleton in “Bridget Jones's Baby.” Directed by Sharon Maguire ("Bridget Jones's Diary"), the new film in the beloved comedy series based on creator Helen Fielding's heroine finds Bridget unexpectedly expecting. After breaking up with Mark Darcy (Firth), Bridget Jones's (Zellweger) "happily ever after" hasn't quite gone according to plan. Fortysomething and single again, she decides to focus on her job as top news producer and surround herself with old friends and new. For once, Bridget has everything completely under control. What could possibly go wrong? Then her love life takes a turn and Bridget meets a dashing American named Jack (Dempsey), the suitor who is everything Mr. Darcy is not. In an unlikely twist she finds herself pregnant, but with one hitch…she can only be fifty percent sure of the identity of her baby's father. The much-anticipated third installment of the “Bridget Jones's” franchise welcomes fellow Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson to the cast. Longtime collaborators Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films produce alongside Debra Hayward.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: It feels current because they've allowed the character to grow. Bridget's still awkward and prone to embarrassing foibles, but she's older, wiser, comfortable in her own skin. – Katie Walsh, Los Angeles Times, Sep 15, 2016

Rotten: Pregnant with possibility, but it fails to deliver. – Leslie Felperin, Hollywood Reporter, Sep 16, 2016

Fresh: Zellweger has precision comic timing, her British accent is close to flawless, and she's having a great time. – Ella Taylor, NPR, Sep 15, 2016

Fresh: It's funny and engaging and the lead character, again played by Renee Zellweger, seems more like a real person than the caricature who wandered dazed through The Edge of Reason. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Sep 15, 2016

Cute movie ... funny. Bridget is a total flake but she is funny and relatable.

Great Sequel

I always wondered what happend to Bridget and Darcy, now we know. I love the light entertainment and it is a movie I can watch over and over. She is still awkward, but adorable and many of the jokes made me laugh out loud. Simple, clean cut movie. Grab a glass of wine, snuggle into bed and enjoy.

If you are curious, just rent.

Not a good sequel. She is not funny as the previous versions. Obviously she cannot make gestures : she has too much botox in her face.
