Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Before the inevitable and surprisingly anticlimactic battle with Doom, we are treated to two extreme-sports demonstrations, several training montages, [and] an ill-advised love triangle. – Matt Singer, Village Voice, Aug 19, 2005

Rotten: If there was ever any doubt that action scenes depend more on context than flash, Fantastic Four proves it. – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: The Fantastic Four get treated reverently, but not seriously, in this modified retelling of the story, but then it's hard to take any one seriously who goes to work for Dr. Victor Von Doom and Doom Industries. – Terry Lawson, Detroit Free Press, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Fantastic it ain't, but not bad it sort of is. – Geoff Pevere, Toronto Star, Jun 16, 2007

This film got bad reviews. Really bad review. In fact, awful reviews. I had no plans to go see it. Ever. But, because I liked superhero films, somebody got me it. I watched it. I was surprised. It was funny, it had action and I enjoyed it. It's flaw, though, was that this is an origins film, so it spent too much of the movie explaining the origins instead of developing the evil guy's plot. The evil guy's plot was basically nonexistant. But, I enjoyed it. I would recommend it.

One of the Worst Superhero Films Out There...

I was optimistic when going to see this, but what I saw was utter failure to the comic book, and such a "kiddy-flick". The acting is terrible. Jessica and Michael are the best, and Evens and onward are just hokey and full of camp. The special-effects are worse than I Am Legend, with hardly any believablity in the flames or the skin or the invisibility -- they couldn't even make invisibility more realistic?! The story is stupid and goes nowhere. The drama with The Thing and his love life is dull. Evan's lack of growth as an actor lends to a reflective image as Johnny. The love triangle is typical and cliche and very uninteresting. The action and inspirational moments are poorly conceived and hardly new. "Oh! A firetruck is halfway from falling off a bridge!" I won't say more so not to spoil, but how many times must we see firefighters lay back, while the superhero does his thang? The Fantastic Four also make a bigger mess than the one that was there when they arrived........ though that may be just a joke. Overall, Fantastic Four is a nonsensical kiddy summer flick. This is strongly for children 10 and under. So worth a rent for them, 11 and up, leave it to rot on iTunes.

critics are morons

this is one of my favorite movies ever. I saw it in theaters and loved it and i still love it. I don't know how anyone could possibly not like this movie. And don't listen to critics, they give all movies bad reviews.
