Meet Jerry Dandridge. He's sweet, sexy, and he likes to sleep in late. You might think he's the perfect neighbor. But before inviting Jerry in for a nightcap, there's just one thing you should know. Jerry prefers his drinks warm, red and straight from the jugular! It's Fright Night, a horrific howlstarring Chris Sarandon as the seductive vampire and William Ragsdale as the frantic teenager struggling to keep Jerry's deadly fangs out of his neck. Only 17-year-old Charley Brewster (Ragsdale) knows Jerry's bloodcurdling secret. When Charley can't get anybody to believe him, he turns to TV horror host Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall), who used to be the "Great Vampire Killer" of the movies. Can these mortals save Charley and his sweetheart Amy (Amanda Bearse) from the wrathful bloodsucker's toothy embrace? If you love being scared, Fright Night...will give you the nightmare of your life.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Chris Sarandon is terrific as the vampire, quite affable and debonair until his fingernails start to grow and his eyes get that glow.
Fresh: Fright Night dances on a tightwire between satire and terror, glittered by special effects and a with-it nonchalance.
Fresh: Fright Night is not a distinguished movie, but it has a lot of fun being undistinguished.
Fresh: It is McDowall who makes this film better than it should be with his performance as the ham actor.
FRIGHT NIGHT FOR THE PERFECT NIGHT
Few horror films combine the element of horror, humor, and story as well as Fright Night, both a wonderful retelling of the Dracula storyline while at the same time commenting on the genre's movement away from charismatic monsters and towards the big trend of mindless/speechless slasher films of the 1980's. In my decades of horror film viewing, easily one of my favorite films, Chris Sarandon's (Jerry Dandridge) vampire is both a character to despise and admire, a trendy, charismatic villain. Our heroes are a motley group of characters, the straight-laced boy next door who no one believes, the bookish girl crush who is coveted by all, the monster-fan geek, and a most wonderful touch with Roddy McDowall playing a washed-up horror actor similar to character actors such as Peter Cushing/Christopher Lee/Vincent Price. Even the title song Fright Night by J. Geils Band is equally fun. Black Belt Critic (Brown Belt!)
Classics never get old
First of all, I've loved this movie since I was a child, and agree with most of the people on here who gave it 4-5 star reviews. However, is it just me, or has anybody else noticed how IDIOTIC many of the reviews on iTunes are? Reading some of these, it looks like ten year-olds (or younger) are writing some of these reviews. Sure, they should have a right to state their opinion (I guess), but it really screws up the "star-system" in my opinion. These kids who don't even know basic grammar or spelling are TRASHING some great, classic movies, giving them one star. Yet they'll give 5-star reviews to some of the lamest pieces of dreck I've ever seen! When I click on a movie and it says: "Average rating - 5 stars," I have a hard time trusting that. Sure, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but some opinions are clearly more experienced, educated and knowledgeable than others. So here's a little piece of advice: If you don't know how to spell, or if you don't have a BASIC grasp of English grammar - DON'T write movie reviews! It's not your place! You have no right! If you're 13 years old and your idea of an 'old movie' is "Jurassic Park," then you do not have enough knowledge about the medium of film, or writing or storytelling - And you shouldn't be writing movie reviews online. Lastly, if your idea of "reading" is picking up a magazine and reading reviews of a new video game, or scrutinizing what kind of flip-flops Lauren Conrad is wearing, then you have no place writing movie reviews. You are uneducated, unqualified and undeserving of this gift that allows us all to voice our opinions publicly. We all have opinions, but most of us should just keep our mouths closed. Jesse has spoken. I'm right, and anyone who disagrees with me is WRONG!
This is a great movie. I wouldn't say it scared me to death but it's good and creepy, it's one of those movies you can watch over and over again. GREAT FILM!
