Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The filmmakers trot out slavery as a general sins-of-the-past signifier and then have no idea what to really do with such a painful real-world issue.
Rotten: The rotting corpses, projectile insect vomit, and creepy geezers in black arrive pretty much on cue, as does the great Cicely Tyson as the obligatory old blind woman who "sees" more than most people with two good eyes.
Rotten: Well-worn hokum.
Rotten: Ultimately nothing more than a decrepit vehicle for the moldiest of scary-movie cliches: screechy specters, inane character behavior and jump scares that a toddler could anticipate minutes ahead of time.
I enjoyed it
I personally thought this movie was great. I love the first one in the series and this one was just as good. I loved how they tied some of our history into it and it gave a new spin on the typical ghost haunting story. Good acting, great story, and the graphics were great. Scares weren't over the top spine tingling but sometimes that just isnt required, overall the movie was creepy for sure.
I'd recommend this movie. It was one of the better ones that I've seen in a while.
decent production values don't save this clunker. it's just not scary.
So I was extremely skeptical when I read about this movie coming out just bc of the title. I enjoyed Haunting in Connecticut but I had also seen documents about the story before so I knew about already. So I was bored and decided to rent Ghost of Georgia for fun and I thought it was really interesting. I thought it was creepy/ disturbing which you want in a horror movie and although I have not found information that this story is true I still thought it was a good sequel none the less. If its true it would def make the story more disturbing IMO.
