About the Movie

From horror master Clive Barker comes this chilling nightmare featuring the first appearance of the hideous, demonic Pinhead. When Kirsty Cotton’s family moves into their ancestral home, they are terrorized by the resurrected corpse of her uncle, who requires the flesh of murdered innocent victims in order to become whole and alive again. A creepy, thrillingly perverse tale straddling heaven and hell, extreme pleasure and unbearable pain, HELLRAISER will haunt your dreams.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: It's a dark, frequently disturbing and occasionally terrifying film that suggests Barker's vision hasn't quite made the conversion from paper to celluloid. – Richard Harrington, Washington Post, Oct 1, 2002

Fresh: Barker's vision cribs equally from the mythos of vampires and zombies, but Hellraiser's overriding ridiculousness (and nagging budgetary shortcomings) can't disguise the fact that the movie is at least unwittingly a product of the AIDS crisis. – Eric Henderson, Slant Magazine, Mar 5, 2015

Fresh: [Writer/Director Clive] Barker's dazzling debut as a director creates such an atmosphere of dread that the astonishing visual set pieces simply detonate in a chain reaction of cumulative intensity. – Derek Adams, Time Out, Jan 15, 2008

This movie was F&@KED up.

Honestly, I did not think that I was going to like this movie, at all. I gave it a try on netflix, and I was amazed at just everything about the movie. It is like a piece of art that just pulls you in. Watch all of the Hellraisers, and you won't regret it. BUT, like every other modern horror flick, the last of the Hellraisers was terrible. WATCH THEM ALL.

One of the best movies of it's time it is an instant cult horror classic
