Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The best thing to be said about this expensive but drab wannabe mirthmaker is that it has some of its director's quirky touches. – Mike Clark, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Its energy is impressive, but its effects are scattered. – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Jammed with stuff and all but empty of drama. – Stephen Hunter, Washington Post, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: It's kind of cold and it's kind of a mess, but I thought it was a glorious mess and it looks so great and it is so interesting and there is so much going on that I have to recommend it on a very mild level. – Richard Roeper, Ebert & Roeper, Jun 24, 2010

It's fun

I'm not going to over rate it or under rate it, it's good, it's fun. Don't go into it expecting a masterpiece, if you do that you will be pissed. Go into instead with the frame of mind that it is a fairy tale based movie and not some edge of your seat thriller. Like I said it is a FUN movie. I liked it, in fact it is one of my favorites, but i'm still not going to give it 5 stars simply because no movie is perfect. All in all HAVE FUN WATCHING IT AND ENJOY THE LAUGHS AND THE LITTLE SCARES HERE AND THERE!

It's fun. I watched this for the first time when I was 7, and it was my absolute favorite movie, and now that I've grown up, it's not really, but it's funny, and it's a great watch, especially with friends. Also, it has Matt Damon.

This movie has a lot of sneeky ways of puting all the old stories of Brothers Grimm together. So in that way of thought, its well done. The plot at times can be odd if you just walk in to it, and I reccomend reading some of the Brothers Grimm stories befor the watching the movie.
