Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: The physical production is as lush as the film's romantic longings. – Vincent Canby, New York Times, Mar 9, 2015

Fresh: After luring us into what appears to be a classic they-gazed-at-each-other-across-an-empty-bar romantic setup, Jordan undermines our expectations so thoroughly that it's as if we've rediscovered our innocence as moviegoers. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Feb 13, 2012

Fresh: In a style of agitated naturalism, Jordan examines poignant matters of life and death, sex and friendship, duty and loyalty, freedom and bondage, manhood and womanhood and all the ambiguous areas in between. – Richard Corliss, TIME Magazine, Mar 9, 2015

Fresh: An astonishingly good and daring film that richly develops several intertwined thematic lines, The Crying Game takes giant risks that are stunningly rewarded. – Todd McCarthy, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Quite a Surprise

If you ever see a movie without knowing anything about it at all, without reading a synopsis or seeing a trailer - this is it. I went to see this in the theater completely blind without any idea of what to expect.

…it's been 20 years but the movie is still fresh in my memory as though I saw it yesterday. If you haven't watched the trailer yet, don't. Just watch the movie. Look at the tomato meter for goodness sake - it's at 100%.

It's great

Everything about this movie was spectacular. One plot twist after another left the audience aghast. Highly reccomend it to everyone. Miranda Richardson was at her best.

It should be available to buy, though.
