About the Movie
When 29-year-old Lola (Gerwig) is dumped by her fiancé Luke (Joel Kinnaman) just three weeks before the wedding, she embarks on an emotional, year-long adventure of self-discovery filled with love, loss, hilarity and heartache. Guided (and often misguided) by the well-meaning advice of her close friends and eccentric parents, Lola's chaotic journey en route to the big 3-0 proves that a single tumultuous year can yield the lessons of a lifetime.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Screenwriters Daryl Wein (who also directed) and Zoe Lister Jones give Gerwig very little to do other than to be Gerwig.
Rotten: A well-intentioned indie that tries to be a "real" version of a Hollywood romantic comedy and ends up feeling more ersatz than ever.
Rotten: There's a Fitzgeraldian sense of generational malaise in all of this, but "Lola Versus" is convinced that it's hilarious.
Rotten: Gerwig remains one of the most captivating new stars to hit the big screen, but she's still looking for a movie that deserves her.
I literally laughed so hard I pooped my pants......literally. You've been warned.
Who’s the Villain?
First off, I’d like to say I thought this film was GREAT. Not a favorite, definitely not something I’m going to be watching over and over again, but good. I felt like the writers wanted to villainize Lola for the first part of the film, but she seemed to be the only one I could sympathize with. If you like melancholy indie films with a few chuckles here and there that cause you to reflect on your own life and actions this one is for you.
Good Just don't expect to much.
For me it felt contrived in spots and Lola was the only charachter I felt even mildly invested in, the supporting charachters where laughably cliche and one dimensional. That said there were moments that were really good were I got lost in the story, I just wish there had been more of them.
