Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Remarkable and poignant... – Kevin Thomas, Los Angeles Times, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: In a perverse and often immature way, it forthrightly deals with mature issues of love, friendship, forgiveness and mental health. It requires a mature audience, but an audience nonetheless. – Peter Howell, Toronto Star, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Both sad and funny, it's a moving film that will more than likely result in audiences having to fight back tears throughout the final credits. – Thomas Caldwell, Cinema Autopsy, Nov 1, 2011

Fresh: Mary and Max is completely unlike anything Australian film has produced till now, and should be celebrated. – Julie Rigg, MovieTime, ABC Radio National, Jun 24, 2010

One of the Best Movies of 2009

I work in the animation industry, and to say I see a lot of movies would be an understatement. I had a chance to see Mary & Max in a theatre and was blown away. It's easily one of my favorite movies of 2009 and definitely on my top 10 all-time list, as it's charming, touching, poignant, and funny. I thought it was a crime it didn't get a theatrical release in the US or an Academy Award nomination. I was ecstatic to see it for sale on iTunes, though, both because I wanted to watch it again and because I wanted all my friends to buy a copy!

This is a must own. At the very least a must watch. It will remind you of what it is like to look at the world with the logic of a child.
